I. Opening:

1. Full-time assistant professorship and above

2. Field of Specialty: Ph.D. in British Literature, American Literature, Anglophone Literature, cultural study, literary theory or comparative literature. Applicants may notify us of other specialties than those listed above to facilitate the review process.

II. General requirements

1. Ph.D. degree in the fields specified above

2. Teaching experience at the college level

III. Obligations

1. Appointment may begin on February 1, 2025. (The appointment of an applicant without Teacher’s Certificate issued by the MOE of ROC will be effective only after the external review of the doctoral dissertation is completed and the case has passed the review by NCKU Teacher Evaluation Committee)

2. Minimum teaching hours as 8 per week, with the priority of course assignment given to FLLD required courses, English Composition and Oral Training courses.

IV. Required items for document review

1. CV

2. Highest degree certificate and official transcript

3. Candidates holding a 'Assistant Professor' (or higher) teaching certificate from the Ministry of Education for colleges and universities are preferred

4. Certificate(s) of Appointment issued by a university or college the applicant has ever served

5. Ph.D. dissertation and two academic publications within recent five years

6. Publication list/record and list of academic projects ever conducted

7. Descriptions & syllabi of courses ever taught or course proposals

8. Three recommendation letters

V. Application materials should be scanned and sent to FLLD through email (em52200@email.ncku.edu.tw) with the mail title of “Job application for Full-time Teacher” before October 17, 2024 for initial screening.

VI. Qualified candidates will be informed about an interview and teaching demonstration at the department in Tainan.

NOTES:

Both the diploma and the transcript must be certified as authentic by the embassies or overseas missions of Republic of China (Taiwan); however, such certification can be waived if the applicant already possesses the Teacher’s Certificate as Assistant Professor (or above) issued by Ministry of Education, Taiwan ROC. Either English or Chinese versions of the two documents should be provided.
